MANAGING THE TEAM 'BENGAL WARRIORS' FOR PRO KABBADDI SEASON 2: - Dilip Agarwal, Class of 81
Dilip Agrawal is the Proprietor and Managing Director of “Out of Box”, a company that specializes in conceptualizing, organizing and managing sports events. Dilip is credited for conceptualizing and managing India’s first complete celebrity sports team, “Boxy Boys”. He has been Team Manager of the Bollywood celebrity team owned by Mr. Sohail Khan, “Mumbai Heroes” since the inception of “Celebrity Cricket League”. Dilip has now been appointed as Team Manager for “Bengal Warriors”, Pro Kabaddi team owned by the Future Group. Being a sportsman himself and played cricket at Mumbai level, gives Dilip an edge over his sports management peers.
• Dilip graduated from K.C. College, Mumbai, specializing in Economics & Commerce in the year 1987.
• He started his professional career in the field of banking, as a trainee in the NRI Portfolio Management cell of Bank of Credit & Commerce International (BCCI), once the fastest growing bank in the world.
• Dilip earned the distinction of being the youngest ever officer to represent the bank as the advisor for income tax on NRI investments in India and conducted seminars across Gulf
• Moving through the rungs quickly, Dilip resigned from BCCI as Officer in Charge of the NRI Portfolio Management Cell, in 1994, when BCCI became a 100% subsidiary of the State Bank of India.
• In 1996, Dilip joined a leading broker for BSE & NSE, Dolat Capital Markets Pvt. Ltd, as the principal dealer for institutional investments.
• Having fully explored his potential in the financial investment field, Dilip decided to explore the upcoming field of events and branding in 2001. Having been a sportsman, playing cricket at top level in Mumbai, Dilip was drawn towards sports management in particular.
• Dilip joined Percept D’ Mark (PDM), as the head of SGPDM, a joint venture between PDM and Sourav Ganguly, the then captain of the Indian cricket team.
• During his tenure at PDM, he managed cricketers like Sourav Ganguly, Zaheer Khan & Yuvraj Singh, alongside organizing and handling all types of cricket events, like cricket clinics, branding events and international matches.
• The highlight of Dilip’s career at PDM was handling the complete production of mega events, like the “Hero Honda NKP Salve Challenger Trophy”, roping in the top cricketers of the country.
• Dilip also handled production for important charity games, involving contemporary legends of national and international cricket. Dilip was an integral part of planning and executing the “LG 2003 World Cup Captain”, involving the captains of the national teams of 12 countries. He was also instrumental in the conceptualization, planning and execution of the “Mega Air Sahara World Cup” promotion, which went on to become one of the best recognized campaigns of its time.
• Dilip initiated the joint venture between PDM and the Cricket Association of Nepal, organizing and managing a three match series between India’s under 19 team and the Nepal national team. He also managed the “Airlines Trophy”, held in Nepal.
• Dilip has also been an integral part of the production teams for entertainment events like the “Hero Honda ITA Awards”, the annual events organised for Mumbai Police, the “HISA Awards”, and Sahara India’s Mega Entertainment shows held all over India.
• Dilip then went on to start PEP Management Pvt. Ltd, and conceiving, marketing and executing the annual wedding expo, “Shaadi” for People Group (Shaadi.com).
• Dilip has also been responsible for production and branding in press conferences for Mauj - the mobile applications company, and handling events for the People Group.
• A varied career path, speckled with the intermingling of sports and branding, steered Dilip towards starting his own sports management company, “Out of Box” in the year 2009, which is no amateur when it comes to handling established brands, large events and celebrities.
• Dilip is credited for conceptualizing and managing India’s first complete celebrity sports team, “Boxy Boys”, In its 10th year, currently having more than 40 top actors.
• He is managing the Bollywood cricket team, “Mumbai Heroes” since the launch in 2010.
• Dilip is credited for conceptualizing and managing “SAP Invitational F15 Cricket Cup” an invitational cricket tournament for customers of SAP India Pvt. Ltd in 2009, the tournament started in Mumbai. Now in the 6th year, it is being organized and managed by him all over India and Sri Lanka. Its termed as the most professional corporate cricket tournament ever organized till date.
• Dilip has recently been appointed as Manager for the Bengal Warriors Pro Kabaddi team owned by the Future Group (Big Bazaar).
Due to the multiple nature of work handled, Dilip is a well-respected entity having tremendous experience and contacts in various fields of Entertainment, Sports and Corporate world.
