GDSMS – MY FIRST HOME AWAY FROM HOME
by Naina (Wadhwani) Parwani, Class of 77
Naina belongs to the first GDSMS batch, Class of 77. She was the first Head Girl of GDSMS. She was elected Head Girl in 9th and she was reelected in 10th as well.
“Of today and tomorrows...life speaks in the tone of yesterdays, and it’s the little things about it that build a fortune code of "precious memories" for us. Each one of us has that batch of "firsts" closely tucked in our hearts getting us to smile in a flashing thought.
The sweetness of being ‘the head starters’, ‘the trend setters’, ‘the first batch’, ‘the first love and scolding of our teachers’! Nothing can replace these emotions for anything in the world. The score of 5 girls versus 23 boys! Not that the number of boys ever dimmed the shining ‘US’...more so we had the attention and love of the teachers as though ‘WE’ enjoyed their predilection. Words fall short as one relives those memories. How all our teachers and our Principal and friends had a hand in moulding us into the wonderful beings we are today. How the laughter and sternness got us to be humble, yet dedicated to our life families and work field. And how that brilliant moment of being the first Head Girl led me to know that life is indeed not meant to be a ship at the harbour, resting. Instead, it’s supposed to wage through bitter gales and drive itself to triumph amidst the storms.
GDSMS....my gorgeous school and family…has blessed me with so much with which I can smile,
learn and yet evolve into a better being till today. School indeed is a special place and I don’t need to look back and screen through it. It’s with me in my heart , it’s with me in my smile, it’s with me in my greatest lesson that one never stops learning. It’s been an honour to have been there... and it’s been a tremendous blessing following me like a silver lining in the sky.
GD SOMANI MEMORIAL SCHOOL ...my first home away from home.
Cheers!!!
